Well I well spent the time going over the "Member Check List" and the video with the Soundslice was so informative. Learn a lot on the second viewing.

Now, my challenge is to record these 3 Lick of the Week.

1. Gary Moore style blues lick- A

2. Still got the blues style-A minor

3. Funky Ford Bender lick-D

After I'm done with that I'll begin with  my next goal: to start with the "Beginner Blues Solo".

I worked on 3 Licks of the Week

https://app.box.com/s/8sm912ccujkk757ho4x1b1rw6b4vvbje

Funky Ford Bender Lick  in D

https://app.box.com/s/6qkptdpt3n92s4xjef5zj9sucrzjejt8

Gary Moore Blues style Lick in A

https://app.box.com/s/95p3www9gh7p3u29j781ofifqfgp2weh

Still got the blues in A minor

Now I need some guidance on how to approach "Beginner Blues Solo". Any advice is much appreciated.  Also while I'm working on that I'll continue with the Lick of the Week.

Thanks guys.

The method I use is to watch the explanation video, then use Soundslice and work through 2 bars at a time, the do the next 2 bars, then put them together to work on smoothly connecting them together, then the next 2 bars, then all together again and so on through to the end of the song. It might take a few days or weeks even. Something seems to happen unconsciously in your brain between practice sessions as things seem easier when you return to them so use that phenomenon to your advantage. If on the way through you have trouble with fingering or picking a particular phrase work out the most efficient way of doing it and hone in on that.

Today's goal is to start the Beginner Blues Solo course.

1. Learn the Pentatonic Box 1 position

2. Learn the Pentatonic Box 2 position

My goal also will be to learn the notes of the box 1 and box 2 positions

Today I recorded Box 1 and Box 2 positions at 120 bpm leaving the metronome on. Here are my 2 recordings.

Box 1   https://app.box.com/s/ruquls9s04dm4xiq7h6om7jv3wgis46v

Monday: Goal for today is to practice box 1 and 2 and learn the notes.  Start Beginner Blues Solo Lick 1.

Time spent about one hour.

I was able to learn the notes on box 1. I practice with the metronome at 145 bpm.

I started with lick #1 using GP 6.  Not really nailed it yet.

Tomorrow I plan to work on Box 1 and 2 and know the notes.

Work on Lick #1 and 2 and record my progress.

Also browse over the site's lessons.

Feb. 7, 2018  Wednesday

This is a continuation from yesterdays log in.

1 Practiced box 1 at 150 bpm, learning the notes are still a bit shaky.

2. Practiced box 2 at 145 bpm, should be able to up more as my fingers remember where to go. Notes have not been memorized yet.

3. Practiced box 3 at 145 bpm, this box was easy to play, should be able to get it up to 160 bpm soon.

4. Reviewed Lick of the Week   (will continue on the ones I know and add more)

    A.  Gary Moore Style Blues Lick ( I notice I'm getting more of the feel for the lick, the bending and timing is what is going to nail this one)

   B. Still Got The Blues Style  A Minor   ( more practice needed, not a hard lick, but the feel is got to go into it)

   C. Funky Ford Bender Lick D   ( moving along OK on this one, the slide is getting there)

5.  Beginner Blues Solo   (Practiced  lick 1 and 2, difficult getting the timing down)

Practiced time about ( 2 hours long during the day)

Today's schedule, follow up on the above and see what more I can do.

First week with MGA

Today I reviewed Beginner Blues Solo, the 5 blues boxes and my goal was to record something of my own creation using one of these boxes. Not sure if I did it right, but it is a learning process for me. Your comments and suggestions are most welcome.

1.  box 1  at 155 bpm   (sounded smooth)

2.  box 2  at 155 bpm  ( happy with my progress)

3. box 3  at 150  (getting there)

While I'm moving forward, I want to focus on learning the notes of the fretboard on these boxes. Not there yet.

What I did today was go through box 1 to 3  up and down the fretboard at 100 bpm. ( more practice needed)

Did not practice the Beginner Blues Solo today  (dang)

My goal also for the first week on MGA was to record something original using using one of the above boxes.  Not sure if I made the goal, but you guys have a listen here.

Very sweet. Slow and steady. I enjoyed the country feeling. Very nice effort 😆. Keep up the good work.

Feb 7,  Thursday.  Second week now with MGA.

I feel my progress on Blues Beginner Solo is going to slow due to time spent on it.

So this week I'll focus more on it.

Today I moved a bit faster on Box 4 and 5.  I guess it just took the right steps on 1,2 and 3 boxes. That help me moved fast into the last 2 boxes.

Still need to learn the notes on the fretboard.

I was able to post a music clip also last week of my playing, hope I did it right within the boxes.

I' m going to stick with daily goals at the moment since it keeps me more focus on what time I have to be active here on MGA.
