Who is familiar with Red Rocks?

Santana added a date to 26 tour at Red Rocks, Aug 24. But ADA tickets are a;ready sold out. I need to minimize stairs. So when you enter the amphitheater are you at top and walk down to your row or at bottom and walk up to your row? We want to get tickets b4 this date sells out!

Big news:

I finally upgraded my guitar rig… now with built-in espresso maker!

I’m running a MIDI controller now so I can trigger espresso shots between songs. It’s mapped to CC#127 for maximum extraction.

Hey — have you come across Suno? It’s one of those AI platforms that creates full songs from prompts.

I’ve played around with it a bit. I hadn’t touched it in about a year, but I tried it again today and it’s honestly improving fast. The sounds feel more realistic now, and the phrasing, timing, and especially the vocals are noticeably better. It’s impressive… and a little unsettling at the same time. I can see how it could be useful, but I also get how it might feel discouraging. I guess this is one of those technologies we’re going to have to figure out how to coexist with.

One thing I tested was whether it could make a backing track in a very specific style. That part was frustrating. I must have tried eight times just to get a version without lead guitar — even though I kept clearly saying “NO GUITAR!” 😄 Eventually I got there, but it took some convincing.

Another limitation is that you don’t get chord charts, so if you wanted to actually use the track seriously, you’d have to transcribe everything yourself.

On the positive side, I generated a couple of tracks that sounded remarkably close to Bonamassa — in a good way. Really strong stuff.

But when I tried getting it to write classic rock or certain blues tracks, it kept drifting into this modern country-rock vocal style. Over and over. That got annoying pretty quickly. It’s not really my thing.

Have you experimented with tools like this? I’d genuinely be interested to hear what you think about it.

Another attempt at writing a solo. With this one I used the power of my DAW to amp up the solo as the backing track intensified. I used 4 separate tracks and added different effects on each track. I automated various points in the recording so the fade and mute capabilities would change the dynamics of the solo to match the intensity of the BT.

This is pretty awesome. No strings attached. You get one of these for free. I got the Plate Reverb and I LOVE it - it's fantastic! The 1176 compressor is great too. The Pultec EQ is also top of the line. I think for us guitarists this plate reverb gives us the most benefit. Regardless of which one you choose, the price is right! :)

Hey guys,

Here is an attempt at a solo composition over a BT I found on Youtube.

Im still trying to figure out where the harmonic note at 25 seconds came from. It seemed to fit so I left it in.

The whole solo took many days to manicure. I felt it really needed a minimalist approach with lots of space and an economical attitude with note selection.
