Hey guys,

Here is an attempt at a solo composition over a BT I found on Youtube.

Im still trying to figure out where the harmonic note at 25 seconds came from.  It seemed to fit so I left it in.

The whole solo took many days to manicure. I felt it really needed a minimalist approach with lots of space and an economical attitude with note selection.

@wobbly_bob, Craig, thanks for your spherical solo. I like it very much. So nice for relaxing 😊.

Regarding your harmonic note at 25 seconds, I loaded your solo into Song Surgeon and looked at the chords there and saw that at 25 seconds you play a G on the 12th fret above an A minor chord (always assuming Song Surgeon has determined this correctly !!!).

The G would then be in the scale, but the note sounds very tense to me: because of the 7th degree?

Maybe Robert can help?

Best regards Birgit

That note sounds like a 2nd/9th, based on the I chord.

Beautiful work! I can hear you worked it out, and that gives a solo a different dimension (not worse/better just different). I believe a lot of pros do this so that they can recreate it live as well. Probably a mix of worked out/improv, to be honest.

I like your constraint. Every statement is powerful, and meaningful. I think you nailed, brother. It's full of emotion and very touching.

I love your creativity.

The 2nd/9th based on the I chord C is a D. And the mysterious sound that Craig produced corresponds to the note D on the high E string at the 22nd fret— if I heard everything correctly.

But how that happens is beyond my capabilities.

I played the first few bars on my Fender myself and, like Craig, played with the volume knob, but I couldn't produce the mysterious sound. Of course, it's not the same guitar and the settings are different too.

Next time at the Japanese Temple I'm going to listen to  this and dream and drift a bit and listen to the background of the spring gentle flowing with thoughts of them by-gone days where I once was.
