I just acquired a 2016 Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster and Wow, what a great guitar.
Fender eliminated the American Series altogether last year and I realized they seemed likely to do the same with the Nashville Tele so I did some hard shopping and found a fine bargain on a new model sold out of a Kentucky retailer.  My new girl is a white blonde with a 12" Radius Fretboard, Tall Narrow profile frets and nice detail work on a satin finish maple neck.  Contoured neck joint at the body, Locking tuners, and Vintage Noiseless Tele pickups in neck and bridge, with a vintage noiseless Strat pickup in middle. The 5 way Strat-o-tune selector switch produces some colorful and strong out of phase sounds in positions 2 & 4 that are much better than my American Series Strat.  Probably because of the Tele/Strat pickup combo.   I played it for over an hour today and just love the sounds, action and neck feel.  The 12" radius means I can bend big and easier- perfect to round out my collection.

Now, speaking of my collection, I have to thin the herd.  When I return from vacation in May I've got two nice guitars that I am going to sell through Craigslist and word of mouth.  Both are quality axes in excellent shape and will be good bargains at $350 for the set neck all mahogany Custom Tele HH w/coil tap, and $500 for a PRS SE Custom 24 w/coil tap.  Both are good players in excellent shape but they have fallen to the back of the cue for what I grab and play. Details to follow in early May.

Awesome guitar Clayton. You can never go wrong with a work horse Tele....and you picked thoroughbred. I think you're going to love that 12" radius. That was the main reason why I went with my Classic Players Strat. So much easier to play. I also like the pick up selector switch with the out of phase selections. You should get some really cool tones out of that baby.

Congrats on your new axe bud. Looking forward hearing it.

Enjoy!

Ivan, I had no idea your Classic had the 12" profile.  It sounded good on paper but I was more than curious when I picked up and played yesterday, and then it all fell together like peas n carrots, bread n butter, taters n gravy!

I'll be sure to post some notes soon- I was playing through a Blackstar HT5R in clean and just slightly dirty drive channel with pedalboard doing all the color and dirt.  C'est Manifique!

Yeah Clayton. I played one at a store last year and found it different somehow.  So I asked one of the techs and he told me it had a flatter neck. I really didn't know a lot about radius profiles so I did a little bit of research and read up on the pros and cons. I thought it was going to be harder to barre chords but it isn't.

I must have went back and played the same guitar a dozen times and that's when I decided that my next guitar would be one of those. A Classic Player's 60 Strat. I would have bought the one I was demoing but the body was pretty beat up. The rest is history.

I really think you're going to love it.

Actually, I went out and tried a 14" radius out of curiosity and I found the bending was super easy, but no way could I barre a chord cleanly. I couldn't get the D and G strings fretted no matter how hard I pressed. I guess there's a fine between which radii fits best under your fingers. Weird......

Congratulations Clayton. I have a pretty bad GAS at the moment that I have so far managed to keep in check - mainly by not playing any new guitars but it's very difficult as one of the guys I jam with keeps coming around with nice sounding instruments that he's just bought.

Congrats on the new addition. I suspect pictures may be coming... I hope you make great music with it for many years.

I know what you mean about GAS, it is pretty much an everyday occurrence for me!
