Hi, guys.

My name is Marcelo. I'm from Brazil. Been playing for 15+ years and believe the MGA is an opportunity to take my playing out of the plateau, since Robert is an awesome instructor and the topics covered interest me a lot.

I've recently become a father, so nowadays I do my playing only at home, to my own pleasure, using my guitars and a Roland practice amp that has some effects built in. It's more than I need for now.

Hope I can help with discussions and find help also here at the forum.

See ya!

Welcome aboard Marcelo. I'm glad you found us. I think you will enjoy being a member of MGA. There is lots of good material to work on here. I'm sure you will have fun.

Hello Marcelo! It's good to have you here.

I'm sitting at the Montreal airport, and will shortly board a plane to Lyon, France.

A few suggestions:

  1. Be consistent. It's much better to practice 30 min per day, rather than 3.5 hours once per week.
  2. Record yourself frequently, and listen back to it. Make this activity a part of your practice routine itself. Share your recordings on the forum and get feedback! WIN-WIN!
  3. Be flexible, and focus on what you enjoy learning and studying. Don't spend too much time on something you don't like.
  4. Don't try to run before you can walk. By that I mean it's a good idea to not jump into material that is too difficult. Build up to it instead, and take joy in playing simpler pieces really well. Otherwise it's easy to become discouraged and lose interest.

There, a few tips that I hope may help!
