Hi folks.  I'm Joey.  A mostly self taught musician that like many, just wants to be the best I can be.  I am a Worship Pastor and have been (and will always be I suppose) known more for my vocal skill than my playing skills.  I started guitar over 12 years ago...then life happened and I didn't pick it up for about 8 years...that was 4 years ago.  In that four years, a lot has happened.  The journey of what happened and how life changed is documented in a CD my wife and I released a couple of years ago.  We are called Crimson Road.  You can get our stuff on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, etc.  It's not ground breaking music but it is OUR music that we wrote from a very deep place.  Enough about that...

I love guitar.  I've even taken a lesson from Robert before but wasn't sure I was going to click with him in that context (skype) but I do however enjoy his approach on MGA.  My life is about to change again and as I mentioned before, I am a Worship Pastor.  I've been a school teacher the last 11 years of my life but it's not my calling...so, this door has opened and I'm walking through it.  I've already started so basically I'm working two jobs until the school year ends.  A that time, we will move to our new location and I will be able to have a more dedicated approach to study guitar.  I'm starting with the Hendrix lesson on chord embellishments which is what I love and want to excel at (I'm a late intermediate player).  So, let the journey begin!

Hi Joey, thanks for being here!

One of the things I'm focusing more on with this new website is the MGA community. Sharing knowledge, questions, tips, advice among us players is a fantastic opportunity to improve.

So jump into the material you connect with, and share your playing with us as much as you like  - it's an important part of the journey.

And the practice log of course... 😉

Now I've got Doc Severinson's band playing in my head!  Let me give a big Ed McMahon laugh and welcome, Joe.   Glad to have another student and traveler on the path of self-improvement.

Check out my introduction, we share some experiences of playing and recording, and seems like were in the same ball park of intermediate playing.  Robert's community remarks are a big part of my motivation and growth here at the MGA- always something to learn from fellow members and in the process of sharing experiences, ideas and recordings. Lots of tools on the site, from lessons to Forum activities, messaging, etc.

Hendrix Embellishments- another great lesson and gateway.
