Nice! Now, what you should do to really learn something from this is to use a metronome.

Play all 1/8 notes for this lick, and start it as slowly as needed. Then repeat, repeat and gradually increase the tempo as you get better.

Thanks Robert.  I did the take maybe 50 times so I decided to record it.  But now I'll do as you suggested with the metronome. I'll start out at 50 bpm and work my way up.

By the way, what chords would go well with that type of riff?

Going at 50 bpm is a lot harder then I would think. I can't stomp my foot in time. But that's been a big problem for me. I'll keep at it though. Got 2/3 way done now. Am sounding a lot better though.

You can play this over D7, D9, D13 - plain old dominant chords. You can also add #11 to those chords if you want to highlight that #11 note.
