@clayton I took your original jam track and added some frilly bits to the last 6 minutes using dimension pro. A synth plug that has a gazillion voices. It was tons of fun.

@clayton, thank you for preparing the rhythm tracks for us. Great.

I really love the funky wah backing track „DD Jam Game Show Funk“ 😊.  I’m exited right away - funky and wah! I haven’t used a „wah“ backing track before.  Suits me very well that you added the metronome click. Will help me a lot!!!, as you mentioned, for internal timing.

I will let you know how it works for me.

Thank you for your commitment

Birgit

@wobbly_bob, the ultimate compliment is joining in the craft and being part of the moment in the space created in music.  I am moved by the sentiment and textures built and shared.  And I am sure your joining the jam helps other members see and feel the ways that they can add to their art.

Here's some incredible connection- last week, the third jam session loop arose from a well known chord progression by George Harrison.  I usually just start playing something my drummer, Doug, records me into a loop.  I do not tell him the song as I want him to play free without preconceptions.  Once the loop was started, Doug grabs the mic and egg shaker.  And thus we launched into a rendition of My Sweet Lord.

And here, you find jam 2 interesting and fire up the synth and sitar layers.

Funny, this weekend while on a lengthy training ride I was wondering how to hatch a plan to have you come visit on the other side of the Earth and jam.  Wish you were here, and yet you are.

Love it, just fantastic!

@clayton

Oh that's great 90 minutes every Wednesday, you can learn a lot from each other. We play after 7 months as band finally together, and i;m so happy to play. I can learn a lot with the songs we practice. My cousin sings for the first time the song I'm a stranger in my own town from Elvis Presley. He ask me to to write guitar licks and two solo's and play that with a Wah Wah effect pedal. I never play with a Wah Wah pedal so for me is this a challenge to play and practice these. I'm so happy he ask me to do this.

I hope to hear more from your jam sessions Clayton!

@bluesiline, there is a fine funky wah wah fire inside of you, so I knew the extra track slices would be the appropriate party platter.  Now, Get Down with your Bad-Self and move with the groove!

Not sure if I mentioned my drummer, Doug, bought Michael Jacskon's Against the Wall album in vinyl.   We had a listening session after the jam and brought up MJ's Rock with You, and Taste of Honey's Boogie Oogie Oogie.  So good.

Here's the appropriate MJ lyrics from Rock with You*:

"Let that rhythm get into you
Don't try to fight it
There ain't nothing that you can do
Relax your mind
Lay back and groove with mine
You gotta feel that heat
And we can ride the boogie..."

*Disclaimer: No improper advances or promiscuous overtones are implied, listen at your own risk of getting funky.

@blues-lover, in the first five years of playing out live I was very fortunate to have fellow musicians who encouraged jamming on stage, and a band project that was built upon spending 6-10 hours per week in the "woodshed" just building that connection among members.  I learned so much about communication of the groove and an open space to create.  Sounds like you have such a good space for yourself!

@blues-lover

André, so great to hear that you are reunited again as a family band after such a long time. I wish you all the best for making and recording the song the way you imagine it. A lot of work is coming your way. Respect. But also a lot of fun!

Maybe, in a few weeks, only if you like, you could share a little interim report with us how you are progressing.

I wish you a very creative time 👍.

Enjoy

Birgit

Here's another practice jam thrown together on the spot at the end of practice last night.  This is with my regular drummer practice like the previous tunes on this thread.

To Refresh, I just start a riff on guitar out of thin air, we record and loop it and then overdub a few more loops and then right into the jam.  I remixed the levels a bit and set audio so you can hear each loop add on one by one.  You can hear me step back and call out to the drummer once the loops are set.  Then the drummer and I play over the layered loops.  This one was fun.

Clayton, I counted 5 layers before you started the jam?

Thanks for letting us hear how you put together your jam track by adding each loop one by one.

I’m very happy that you again shared a bit of your jam session with us 👍. Great. Otherwise I couldn’t have imagined what you were playing on your Thursday evenings.

I think the MGA forum is a wonderful platform for that.

Thanks a lot

Birgit

@bluesiline 5 Loop tracks is correct!  Good ear, Birgit.  Just little pieces and phrases like adding highlights, colors, or a pinch of salt, pepper and spices to compliment the original/fundamental sound.

This jam just started with me noodling the fundamental and it sounded good so the drummer hit the loop record.  The 4 extra layers just happened easy.  That's why you can hear me tell the drummer to "make some magic" once the loops were laid down.  Creating and recording those five loops took about 7-8; minutes.

Unfortunately, Thursday with my old bandmates was moved to next week.  But that will be something interesting when it starts!

Glad you enjoyed the sounds.  The jam is stuck repeating in my head.

Clayton and Birgit as Promised!
And of course to all the people who wanna hear this

And was to close by the bass player. 😊

Here is the first part of the song Stranger in my own town from Elvis Presley. We try to make our own version on it! I wrote the first licks and first solo in the first part on the song and play that with a Wah Wah effect pedal. Now i must go work on the second part of the solo.
In my head i wanna make it more aggressive than the first solo. that make the song a bit difference. I hope that what my head want, that my hands can do this.

I hope you like what you're hear!
We as band have a lot of fun to play this kind of music!

Here the link from Box:

I hope the link work fine!

Greets from a happy guitar player! 😀

Hell yeah 🤘 I want to be in that jam!  Really nice to make the song Yours, and all the better to me because it's go to pedal- the Wah!

I was listening to this as a touch of Hendrix Blues but came to realize it's much more like Robin Trower's "old blues" album Roots & Branches.

This just sounds like a lot of fun and I really enjoyed the way you were making that guitar crying and sing!

We need more submissions like this because it certainly energizes, inspires, and builds community. Thanks!!!

@blues-lover

André, I totally agree with Clayton!

I’m really happy that you shared your song with us 😊.

You create such a catchy bluesy mood with your guitar playing and nicely done with the Wah. My body moves instantly when I listen to your song. And the voice also fits very, very well underlining the bluesy mood. A successful combination.

I'm impressed how you created your own arrangement 👍,

and keep it up,

Birgit
