Week of  November 12-17

Familiarized myself with website and found several blues licks I wanted to dissect.

Decided to start working on bar blues 1.

Nov 22,2018

Worked on bar blues licks for an hour. Soundslice and lesson attachments make it so much easier to learn licks. Very impressed with the work Robert has put into this website, (and whoever else is involved). Practiced licks 1, 5, 9, 13 and 17. Well on my way to getting the first 12 bars. had to modify a couple of licks, fingers not as fast as the master!

Nov. 24, 2018

Worked for an hour on first 12 bars. Coming along nicely. Objective is to be able to play along with the backtrack by Christmas. I havent really looked at whether these licks are moveable shapes for other keys??????? One thing at a time.

Did a lot of work past few days on watching the lick videos. Tonight was a breakthrough! I finished working on the first turnaround and was able to play the first twelve bars at 80% speed. Will practice to achieve my goal of  100% speed by Christmas. Im quite sure I can do it.

Bar Blues is one of Robert's finest works, Rene! It's cool when you can start improvising off this one and branch into your own ideas using Robert's nice examples!! Jim C.
