Sebastien,

A welcome from a « beginner practice logger » to an « advanced practice logger ». Nice to get to know you.

And what a successful re-debut with the D minor blues solo!

Your playing is very sensitive and compassionate, seems to be you are playing without much effort, really relaxed and like a flow. I’m deeply impressed!

And, having a short look into your practice log, I’m absolutely sure that you will share more recordings and videos with us in the future.

Sebastien, you are a great enrichment here at MGA!

Enjoy playing,

Birgit

Thanks for your warm words! I'm glad to be back!

I tried YL26 - Melodic Solo, it is very short but very... melodic! 😆

It took me maybe 4 hours of pratice to get there! 4 hours for a 22 seconds solo! 😝

Sebastien, so good that you’ve tried it, because you did a very good job!

I love this melodic rock solo in A minor, it’s so melodic and happy sounding and you played it so well with the Hendrix style double-stops.

When Robert published this solo a few weeks ago we had a discussion on the forum how to learn playing quarter note triplets (bar 5) and Robert gave us some useful guidelines how to practice. But needs a lot of practice.

And you only needed 4 hours for the solo, that’s a very short period, I think. I couldn’t even learn it in 20 hours at the moment, because it’s too difficult for me. So take my words as a compliment!

I have a request : Next time you post a video, it would be great, if both of your hands are visible. I want to learn a little bit looking at your picking hand.

And I’m interested in how you practice the solo:

- Are you listening to Robert’s solo as long as you get rhythm, melody and chord changes in your mind before you begin to practice the solo?

- Do you use a metronome first and then the backing track?

Enjoy learning and playing,

Birgit

Really nice playing, Sebastien!  Those double stops and embellishments give a solo so much more space and complexity.  Thanks for the effort and sharing with MGA.

@bluesiline

I don't use a metronome, I try to get to know the notes, and after that I try with Soundslice. I try to play with Soundslice, following what Robert's is doing. Then I try alone with the soundtrack.

When I record my self, I'm playing along with the soundtrack only.

New practice: A minor blues solo.

I have some issue with the bends and for some reason I'm unable to learn it by heart. This is a problem I have on most song, I can't learn anything by heart. How can I build a better memory? I'm am too old already? 😆

Welcome back, Sebastien! Glad to see you again. Hey you sound great!

To build a better memory, the answer is - sing along. Hum/sing along with the solo, until you have it in your head. THEN, you can easier learn it without forgetting. You may have to between playing and singing along a few times, or do both, until it sticks.

OMG! It's been almost a year that I posted here... I'm ashamed...

However, I did practice even though I don't post here often!

I had fun with this one, Double-stop rythm practice from YL40 lesson. Still not perfect, as you can tell from my face 😝

@sebastien, I wrote the following lines to Dan Garrett a few months ago, when he also had trouble getting his video published:

1 Sign in Youtube

2 Click on the „+“ symbol (to the left of your Youtube Account)

3 Click "upload video“

4 Select a file

5 Wait until the video is uploaded. May take a while! Then on the right side you find the video and the related video link.

6 Click now on the „save“ button

7 Then you see the video link again (in blue pattern). Right next to it there is a rectangle. Click on it and your video is copied to the clipboard.

8 Click on « close » and you can see all your uploaded videos.

9 Then go to MGA forum, go to your new post and click paste (« ctrl V » or your shortcut) because your video link is in the clipboard.

10 The video link is now visible in your post.

11 If you now click on « add reply » the video will be visible in your MGA post.

If you don’t want that your video is visible to all on Youtube you can make a choice before you « save » your video on your Youtube channel (see point 6 in my list)

Click on „visibility“ in the upper line

Click on: „no, not especially for children“

Then click on „visibility“ again and you have a choice between «private» «not listed»  or «open to public». Select «not listed».

I hope it helps,

Birgit

Here's another one. I wish I could have the sweetness of the author, I find my version very rough. More practice is needed I guess!

It's from the YL30 lesson. Very nice slow blues solo, I like it very much!

That's Good playing, Sebastian!  All the better that you share with MGA!

What did you find easy or difficult in the lesson?

Yay! Really awesome! The more you play it, the smoother it will become. Both your videos are really good!

The forum is embedding youtube videos automatically, but it seems to not work so great with youtube shorts.

Thanks so much for sharing your playing! I love it. ❤️
