Working Deeper With Scales - a concept that applies to any scale:

https://www.masterguitaracademy.com/course/practicing-scales/

This one is about how I practice scales. You can do the same.

The premise is: you know/are learning the pentatonic "boxes" but you want to break out of the "boxy" playing.

Looking at the video, I realize I should perhaps have talked more about melody and phrasing. Those lines I'm playing, they come from years of playing and from melodic playing. It's not random notes from the scale - it's melodic phrases that I'm aware of, and I'm trying to get them out of me, onto the fretboard.

I am very curious to hear your feedback about this one.

I hope you don't find it too abstract or unattainable - it's something to aim for, regardless. This approach is something you should try every day, with whatever scale you want. Just take it slowly, use only a couple of shapes and 2-3 strings at first. Focus on the melody and good phrasing.

Great lesson. Seems like a great way to connect the boxes! Sort of like transitioning from 5 boxes to 1 box that covers the entire fretboard... Seems like not only a great way to 'merge the boxes but at the same time develop and internalize some great licks and learning the scales while also being musical....

Great lesson! And can be used for blues scale, major scale, modes...  I love it.
