The next Guitar Idol to sell guitars at auction is Neal Schon.  In case anyone doesn't know, which I doubt, Neal is the lead guitarist for the super group Journey.  But some may not know that he got his start with Santana.  Carlos brought him into Santana when Neal was only about 15 years old.  And Neal played lead, rather than Carlos, on one of my favorite Santana songs, "Song of the Wind", from "Caravanserai"

Neal Schon to auction off 112 electric and acoustic guitars, including his Don’t Stop Believin' 1977 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe

Also including 2 59 Les Pauls that look in mint condition!

That link, above, is to the article, which has a couple YouTube videos, in Guitar World Magazine.  Here is the link to the actual auction so that you can bid: Heritage Auction of Neal Schon Guitars.

One of the great things about this forum, unlike so many other guitar forums is the civility.  So everyone please don't run up the bid on Chris @Jestme . He wants the double neck PRS Dragon! And more than likely @Clayton is going after the 59 Gibson Les Paul Burst.   So let him have it!  (Opening bid $150,000 😉 ).

Ron @matonanjin

Thanks for the heads up. How did you know I was in the market for a Double Dragon!!! LOL

WOW I can't imagine having that many 'spare' guitars... I mean he could probably leave a few at each place they played and not have to drag any guitars along the next time they were to play there! 😉

I certainly would take the double neck dragon... [Starting bid - $30,000] or for that matter any of these guitars!

I fell lucky, and right now I'm digging into the sofa cushions just in case some non-MGA riff-raff starts shilling on that 59 Les Paul!

Ron, I agree that is a beautiful solo, and on a wicked good album.  I love watching the videos of young Neal with Santana.

Clayton, I couldn't agree more about the apparent chemistry between Carlos and young Neal.  But I also remember all the negativity about Carlos bringing Neal into the band.  This was just after finishing undergraduate school and starting grad school (72?) so I had some  priorities  other than following the details of this.  And there were no forums!!!!!!!! 🤣 Or social media!!! 😮 How could I of followed it?!?!  But it seems the DJ's were warning about career suicide for Carlos by bringing the hot shot 2nd guitarist in.  And some were screaming that Neal should get back to school.

And for any of you not familiar with Song of the Wind.  (Shame on you 😉 )  To me this is right up there with Europa.  Or better.
