Today, after 4 weeks of hard working with Robert's lessons, I made my first recording of Robert’s 12 bar blues in A (easy). And I’m totally done.

There is still a lot to improve, I know. From bar 32 to 36 I’m not on the beat, it’s a difficult part for me. During my recording I was completely concentrated on counting the rhythm, to continue in the next bar on the right beat after a pause, horrible. The frets 15 to 20 are difficult to play for me because I have a Dean guitar tonic S with only a single cutaway.

Birgit,

You are doing great. The only way to grow and improve is to work on things that challenge us. You are doing that. And being able to hear your weak spots is a great thing as then you know where you need to work to improve. Keep it up! You are on your way!

Thanks for sharing.

Good job there! This will be a good practice solo to record maybe once a month or so, and then I think you'll notice improvements. You are starting to get it all sounding pretty sweet. Some timing issues to clean up, and I recommend you focus on a smaller part of the solo. Don't do the whole thing at once. Instead, do maybe 6 bars at a time, then the next 6, etc. Only go to the next part once the first one is sounding good

The way to really get the phrasing and timing right is to SING along with the solo. It's the rhythmic phrasing you want to get in your head, and the best way to to do that is to SING ALONG.

Keep the good work going, Birgit!

Thank you Chris for your words of encouragement.

And thank you, Robert, for your explanations. I will follow your advice, I promise, because you have already mentioned before, that I should take smaller parts. And I keep on working with your breakdown of the solo.Your videos help me a lot. I will sing along and I’m very interested to see how that works.

Thanks Birgit
