Been practicing cm blues all day. I found a great backing track on the net called T-Bone Walker Like 'C' (FH&G). Fired up the computer and put one down.  Here is the result.  Note audio only .  Its a youtube because the file was too big to upload here directly.

Very nice Craig.

Your time in the shed today paid off big time. You have a natural touch for laying down phrases off the top of your head and keeping them going for a long time.

Awesome stuff!

Thanks Ivan,

This site is really brilliant.

Everyone is so supportive and the resources are well set up making them easy to use and apply to my way of thinking. I have already learnt more in a week than I would have in months.

Fantastic! You play with some great feeling. That TONE! What do you use for recording your tone - guitar/amp/pedals/computer software/plugins, etc. It sounds HUGE. Reminds me of Albert Collins. Iceman!

Hey Robert,  thank you.

And a very big thank you for supplying such a wonderful resource.  Access to your immense talent is priceless!!

The tone in this piece was achieved  using a SUHR Strat classic pro ( I think), through a MXR dyne compressor plugged into an Ampeg Reverberocket Diamond Blue R-212R.  The amp was on all day so the tubes were as warm as an open fire.  Slight gain between 1 and 2 - treble, mid and bass between 4 and 6 and reverb at 6.5.  Very new rig and brand new strings so all of those harmonic incidentals are attributed to that.

I only have a zoom h1 mic set at a comfortable distance recording into cakewalk SONAR software. (totally awesome). Whole piece done in 2 hits as I made a big goof about 3/4 in. (Ah the luxury of recording).  Bounced the mix to a single track and applied a vintage channel VC-64 compressor plug-in for the final mastering and export. 🙂

What more can be said. Great job playing and great sound. It sounds like you are actually in the mix you blend in to the track very well. I have a feeling you are going to be able to learn us a few things about recording. Recording is obviously not a new pastime!

Well done.

Thanks Chris,

The recording element for me has been a very long haul. Self taught and really know very little. I don't really have the ear or expertise to produce a "masterpiece" but know enough to get by. I'd be happy to share my limited knowledge with anyone who needs assistance. 😊
